Annual Festival Week
Pyle Community Council sponsor an Annual Festival Week and Community Fun Day, which is held in June/July. The success of the Festival Week and Community Fun Day is growing each year.
Local voluntary organisations, sports clubs and Churches hold events on each of the days leading up to the Fun Day on a Saturday in June, and the whole of the Festival Week is celebrated at a special Service of Thanksgiving in St Theodore’s Church , Kenfig Hill on the following Sunday.
The Community Fun Day in Groft Coch Fields is the main event of the Festival Week and provides an opportunity for all clubs, organisations and Churches to promote themselves and do a spot of fund raising. The two main events of the day, the Classic Car Show and Mini Rugby Festival are proving to be increasisngly popular attracting an attendance of many thousands.
Last year the theme of the Festival Week and Community Fun Day was the 50th anniversary of the ‘Summer of Love’ and it was a time for everyone to kick off their shoes and wear flowers in their hair and wish every one “Peace and Love”
The whole idea is to bring all the various organisations of the two communities of Pyle and Kenfig Hill together, enabling us all to work to improve the area.
We encourage all members of the community and loacal residents to get involved, and local businesses are asked to help by sponsering the events.
